10 manliest RPG's
« on: October 20, 2010, 01:28:15 AM »
I think we need to compile this list. I mean, after all, how will new players know what RPG's are the manliest around?

I think the list should start off with Dark Sun, then with Dark Heresy continuing on with Deadlands, Geist, Legends of Anglerre, Paranoia, Scion and The Dark Eye.

Any thoughts?

There's a difference between 'manly' and 'rips your head off and eats your eyes because it wants to'.

But otherwise I support this list.

I think All Flesh Must Be Eaten and Warhammer Fantasy Role Playing deserve an honourable mention in the Manly category.

Which Warhammer FRP? The new one? I agree with that one.

I think ripping heads off and eating eyes because it wants to is manly, well as long as you don't scream while it's being done to you.

Also, this is the single most terrifying RPG cover I have ever seen in my entire life.

Don't ask me what the RPG is about as I haven't been able to muster up the courage to read it.

Ignore the fact that I'm watching Animaniacs.

Both Warhammer and Warhammer 40k have the same basic GRIMDARK tropes so this list can't really have more than 1 GW-based RPG. And as tough as warhammer fantasy rpg is, I believe Deathwatch the space marine RPG would beat it in manliness.

Deathwatch was why I was saying Dark heresy, though I guess they're technically different lines. Rogue trader is a pretty manly one as well.

And NEVER! How else would I be able to make everyone jealous that I'm watching Animaniacs?

Is it manlier to take on the greatest enemies of mankind whilst clad in the finest armour and given the finest weapons?  Or is it manlier to do the same thing while up to your knees in shit, crawling through a sewer, stinking to high heaven and armed only with the old pitchfork you stole from home?

Your mom crops a good screenshot if you know what I'm saying.

My vote is for AFMBE especially if you play with the fatigue rules and encourage active paranoia among your players to ensure they won't sleep.

On that note, add Iron Heroes to the list.

Should have thought of this last night, but, anyway. Any of the nWoD or oWoD games played as a bystander.

Now, if only there was a game that combined the manly aspects of space marines, with the manly aspects of Iron heroes and Dark Sun...
