Once you have a full set, you can craft them into badges. It lets you raise your Steam level score (basically the Xbox's Gamerscore mechanism) as well as gives you profile backgrounds and emoticons to pimp out your Steam profile.

It's all cosmetic, but people really like to pimp out their Steam profile. Including me, of course.  ;)

I got cards to trade. For the summer sale I need Skyrim, Bioshock and Chivalry. I have many Tomb Raider cards to trade, also I have spare Engi and Fed Cruiser from FTL and The Red Head from Monaco.
