POST YOUR GAMER PENI- I MEAN LIBRARY!
« on: June 03, 2009, 04:25:04 AM »
I know, I know, boring thread is boring.  I'm just curious what games everyone has bought as opposed to actually played.

I might as well whip it out first (HUR HUR I'M A COMEDIC GENIUS).

     (* denotes played)
  • All Flesh Must Be Eaten
  • Best Friends
  • Breaking the Ice
  • Contenders
  • Call of Cthulhu
  • DnD 3.5*
  • DnD 4th Ed.
  • Dust Devils*
  • Inspectres*
  • Intergalactic Cooking Challenge
  • L5R 2nd Ed.

  • Spirit of the Century
  • Super Gachapon Fighter Omega Infinity
  • Traveller (Mongoose)

  • Wilderness of Mirrors
  • The World of Darkness

A single tear rolls down my cheek when I think of all the games I've yet to play.

Size matters so very, very much. We're just measuring raw material ownership rather than skill. Of course, this doesn't really account for source books and the like. I mean, if I stack all of my RPGs books on top of each other, the stack is taller than I am. Likely 2/3 of that is source books rather than core.

Physical RPG Books:
Savage Worlds

PDF RPG Books:
Call of Cthulhu
Chaosium's BRP

Board Games:
Wings of War
Carcasone
Sword & Skull

These are just the ones I can think of while here at work.

Same here.  Oh man, I sunk so much money into DnD 3.5 books.  If I wasn't constantly fellating WotC in high school I probably could have bought a car :P.

Still, I'm wanting to know how much of everyone's investment into this hobby has been returned in entertainment value, like a paid-to-played ratio, or something like that.

My paid to played would be quite low. Luckily I get my own entertain out of the books by spending my time reading them as if they where novels. I find books of basically random facts and rules to be interesting and that's what RPG manuals are.

Not quite long enough, keep going.  How much of that have you played?

My paid to played would be quite low. Luckily I get my own entertain out of the books by spending my time reading them as if they where novels. I find books of basically random facts and rules to be interesting and that's what RPG manuals are.
I thoroughly agree.

And apparently, I've got a vagina.

I lost my D&D books during a move last summer, and bought M&M 2e but my friends have it most of the time (as they keep fucking changing their characters). I also used to have a bunch of esoteric rpg books that I eventually gave away or lost.
