Paranoia
« on: February 09, 2010, 04:21:38 AM »
This is thread about Paranoia. Posting about Paranoia anywhere else is treason! Have a nice day! :D

Man Paranoia is awesome. I played a game of it right after new years. I played James-R-PAX-1, a Mystic druggie how talked about Vaxamisil like he was it's spokesman and add "Brah" to the end of almost every statement, no matter content or tone. He also the Puppeteer mutation which lets him control other people bodies. Some events from that game include:

    • Ripping shrapnel, then giving him a Vaxamisil pill, then shoting him in the head for knowing what a hip-bone was.
    • Making a teammate hug some zombies. (He set a rocket off at his feet, better to die then be killed.)
    • Trying to chug a bottle of Vaxamisil and a bottle of blue pills (though the where mutation pills, turns out there Viagra). The blue pills and my arm got blown away. I pretty much ODed on the Vaxamisil and got in the head while laying there comatose.
    • We made it outside and found some villagers. At first I wanted to kill there leader of it and take the rest bake to AC(They had to gag me but they still made out the "Brah"s) Then I realized "Hey, outside is where they grow pot and cocaine and shrooms and cocaine and heroin and cocaine." I then defected to, in the GMs words, snort the world.

Shit, shouldn't of said that, Brah.

Reviving the thread cause I played another game recently. It ended with Revolver Ocelot getting his leg blown off then turning into a creature beyond human comprehension and crushong Macho Man Randy Savage with his crab like claws.

    It made sense in contexted.

    It always does.

Paranoia is gonna be next on my to own gaming hit list as soon as I find a version friendly to me. I think I'll go with the one Ross reviewed awhile back since it seems to offer the most pages. Paranoia XP, right?

Paranoia is a GREAT game.  I was at Megacon this weekend in Orlando, and there was a Paranoia LARP.  I'm not one to LARP.  Its sort of my line in the sand.  However, Paranoia is the one exception.  It was basically four hours of bribing, bootlicking, and betraying my way to the top and it was pretty awesome.  I made it to indigo clearance adn was the head of my troubleshooter squad.  I'll post an anecdote late when I'm off of work.

Is the only way to get the base game to shell out fifty bucks for a used copy? Mongoose Publishing doesn't have a "main book" listed. Closest thing I can find is the one titled "Troubleshooters".

That is "The Main Book".  They've split the game into three parts, Troubleshooters is the classic style of low level people running around with wacky hijinks.  Theres a Internal Security book, where you play the secret police, and an unreleased High Programmer book, where you take the role of the the "leadership"

I was the one that ran Charlie's 2nd game. First time I had played it, everyone had fun as far as I'm aware and it was incredibly over the top after awhile. I have to say I enjoyed it as a GM because after awhile the game builds it's own momentum of accusations piling up.

Paranoia GMing is fun cuz you can arbitrarily kill players whenever you want.
