Nottingham Life Rpg
« on: May 16, 2010, 04:19:44 PM »
I have been working on an RPG based on Robin Hood for about 1 year now and I finally have finished version 2.0.
You can check out my website www.tinyurl.com/nottinghamlife.
You can also email me @ nottinghamliferpg@gmail.com.
I would love some bug and play testers. If anyone could look over the game and find errors or balance issues that would be great.
I have been listening to RPPR for about a year and i love the topics since i GM my own game with some friends.
I will alert anyone interested when 2.0 is released, all i have left is the glossary.
The core rules book will only be about 17 pages. One of the focuses of the game is the flexibility. It lets the GM decide many things that a complicated dice roll might solve in other games.

I would love to give it a read through, but I doubt I could convince my current group to give it a run (we have 3ish campaigns running which don't get enough time themselves).  But if you are looking for people to just give it a read through, I'd be more than happy to do it.

That would be great, ill send you a PM with a download link, i plan to use google docs to post updates., do you have any other suggestions for free hosting of downloadable documents?

Anyway, if you could do a session it would be amazing. I plan to release typed versions of sessions (mini campaigns) i have run in the past for download along with other blank sheets for GM's to hand out.

Also i am looking for a major website that could host me or provide me with a real link, like rppr.com/nottinghamlife (I can Dream). If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

Thanks!

I'd probably be able to do a quick session of it with my group, though from a quick readthrough I'd probably be able to tell you any game-breaking flaws that it would have, if it had any.

As far as hosting your stuff, a friend of mine used Scribd and it seems like a pretty good resource for this kind of thing.

I haven't read all of it yet, but I have noticed a lot of spelling mistakes. They might be little things, but it should be something to fix.

It was the earlier version that did, I need to read through the new one yet.

That being said, your character sheets need a lot of work. They're too unorganized.

It's not too hard to make a proper one either, you just need tables.

Make some tables in word, and then play around with the settings to make some of the boxes disappear, or all of them disappear (Though I suggest keeping the skills in a table)

At this point i am working on weapons, maps, and sessions.
I appreciate your advice but i need to set my priorities.

Also I am desperately trying to change the game mechanics to be playable with similar odd without 20 sided dice.
I want to make the game only require 6 sided dices.

Making a game that only requires 6 sided die is a lot harder, and requires a lot more work and thought to it.

Ilm just giving the advice, I'll keep going through it and let you know what I think could use a bit of revising.

Yes I have realized that it is a lot harder to play with only 6 sided dice
but it makes the game more easily spread and played,
since my original audience that i made this game for had not had any gaming experience. In fact we got together and played only this game and I have never bought a book and neither have they.
However i do own The hero system 5th edition revised.

You might want to look up a few RPG's before you start making your own. I see a bunch of good ideas, but they're poorly executed.

The way you want this run reminds me a lot of... shit what's the name of it... Pendragon! That's it, look up the Pendragon RP and see if you can take some inspiration from there.

Updated core rule book and play sheet. and added a sample session using old notes.
For those how plan on play testing I can maybe get a map up along with armor and weapon sheets.
If you could tell me when you plan on play testing that would be great.
