I've been playing a lot of "Charles Barkley Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, Chapter 1 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa".

Surprisingly solid as a JRPG, even with the completely fucktarded premise.

Plus, the intro is my new theme song:

Sean-o-tron,

That game is awesome. I'm playing it at work and I love it.

Charles Barkley and an RPG. It is an unholy-holy union. Other than Scotty Pippin, Charles Barkley is my favorite b-baller. This Rocks!
I wish I was Tom.

Granted, you are now Tom.

Just got through my second run of Alpha Protocol, and I gotta say. You know what?
I really do think most of the crappy reviews are by people who haven't really sat down and played the game.

Yeah, the AI is dumb (stop charging me when I have a shotgun, morons), and the controls (particularly the cover mechanics) occasionally spaz out. But the actual action is solid, if somewhat basic, the leveling actually matters a great deal as far as what you can do, unlike some other games coughcoughMassEffect2coughcough, and it's actually worth going through multiple times, which is good, because it's rather short.

First time I went through, I Solid Snake'd it. No kills, no alarms, no alerts, executed all the big bad guys in cutscene (FOR GREAT JUSTICE), saved AMERICA (fuck yeah), you name it. That play style lent itself towards slow, tense exploration and a lot of waiting and memorizing patrol routes.

Second time. . .I just went 'yeah fuck it' and shot everyone in the head with an assault rifle. Except for the civilians who are just doing their job because I am terrible at being an asshole. Bv

So all in all, good game. Flawed, but the story, characters, action (sometimes) are all more than enough to redeem it.

Disclaimer: My experience is based entirely off of the XBox 360 version, and I may make no claims as to the quality or lack of bugs in other versions.

My kid beat me at NHL 11 last night.

 :(
Thanos: "I am going to sacrifice the Earth to gain the love of Death"
Me: (slowly raise eyebrow) "Destroy the Earth? That would be...illogical"
Vortex: "Yes...that...would be...highly...illogical."
Thanos: "Your Star Trek references bore me."

Yeah, this was actually a fun game, aside from how it's like 300 MB for a game you can beat in 40 minutes.

 :(

This goes into my list of "I want to have kids, but I don't know why."

Playing through 999: 9 hours, 9 persons, 9 doors. Anyone who likes the Phoenix Wright games or Hotel Dusk: Room 215, or anyone with a DS really, should buy this game.

There's a Flash demo on the main website: http://www.aksysgames.com/999/pages/demo

I've heard good things about it. Once I get my hands on Hotel Dusk 2 (I'll have to import it from the UK, luckily the DS isn't region locked unlike the 3DS (what's up with that crap, Nintendo?), but once that happens, that is right there on my list.

Yeah. It's called 'Everything that isn't outside of Midgaard."

FF7 is a good game. Just like Transmetropolitan is a good comic. The issue is that the fans are fucking obnoxious and enough to make you want to hate it and everything to do with it.

Fair enough.  I suppose my general disinterest in JRPGs probably adds to that.

Can't blame you there. I used to be huge on JRPGs, but as I aged, I got sicker and sicker of the same few ideas being regurgitated again and again and again, and each time held up as "THIS IS AWESOME" when it was exactly the same thing as the last ten entries.

Star Ocean, Tales of, and Suikoden remain notable exceptions to my great dislike of JPRGs in general, however.
