Ok so Deus Ex: Human Revolution, first impressions:

Gameplay: Smooth as butter, viciously smart AI who are quick to flank, seek cover, chuck grenades, and will *kill your ass dead*. Jensen is *not* a bulletsponge, and dies in a few hits.

Yeah, learned that the hard way several times:

*BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM* *Thud*

Ooh yeah, Dermal Armor for sure.

One other thing about Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PLAYTESTERS:

"Dear Playtesters. FUCK YOU. There isn't enough ammo on harder difficulties. This is because of YOUR poor feedback. Yours truly, Moondog."

Alien Swarm is free on Steam, and I just upgraded my computer to something that can play it semi-smoothly. (along with other games I've been waiting, sometimes 10 years, to play on PC). Anybody up for playing a few missions? I'm going to get on in about half an hour to play. Steam name's still SageNytell. C'mon, let's get out of this chickenshit outfit.

welp, beat DE:HR on Give Me Deus Ex difficulty without being spotted once or killing anyone. Now I'mma go through it on the easiest difficult and murder everyone for sweet, sweet catharsis.

also hey, 7 days 'til Dead Island and Disgaea 4, sweet.

I played a bit of Red Orchestra 2 beta earlier with Dom, it's pretty good. Also Deus Ex and Space Marine demo.

FarCry was on sale, so I bought it.  Feels like the game is just camping, but the AI is too stupid to actually move and just sits on the other side of where you're camping...

I know you could argue that's good AI, but given all the other stupid things they do, I'm just going to chalk it up to stupidity...

RO2 is pretty brutal, but I am enjoying it quite a bit. I realised that I'm much better with the assault role than the rifleman role. I generally clear out apartments to a great effect with automatic fire, since getting hit by a bullet in this game can easily mean death.

I loved Deus Ex Human Revolution, except maybe for the forced Boss fights. Still, I'd probably rank it as my GOTY for now.

After so much sneaking around, I got my catharsis from playing the WH40k Space Marine demo. Slashing through orks with the chainsword for health is pretty satisfying.

For reasons unknown I'm playing Tales of Vesperia. So far, it is indeed a JRPG.
I wish I was Tom.

Granted, you are now Tom.

Tales of Vesperia is *great* and one of the best Tales games, period. Probably one of the best JRPGs on the XBox 360, too.

Repede is also awesome. And broken. Awesomely broken.

So how is Dead Island?  I noticed a number of folks playing it.  As classy as it seemed from the first trailers?

Dead Island is pretty darn good. Like a more serious (despite the electrified machete, it's a deadly serious game) Borderlands+zombies, mechanics wise and style wise.

Purna seems a bit OP for Co-Op, though.

also, Disgaea 4 is as deliciously ridiculous as its predecessors and I love it for that. Although there's enough subtext between Valvatorez and Fenrich (the vampire main character and his werewolf manservant) to fill a thousand thousand fanfics.

I 'unno if that's a bad thing or not, it's certainly amusing.

I loved the ridiculousness of Disgaea (I have the first one on DS), I just wish grinding was so required so early.  It's so charming and absurdly fun, I just didn't enjoy the fact that I felt I had to grind practically right out of the gate.  I'll have to go back and give it another shot after I finish Chrono Trigger though...

it's a bit buggy on the PC but the core gameplay of smashing zombies with boat paddles is extremely fun.
