Hey. So uh, Steam sales. Just bought Rome: Total War for $1. Even though I already own the game. Because it's that much of a great deal.

If you're a history buff, like Grand Strategy or simply love video-games, you should definitely pick up on this sale.

honestly graphics are a bit of a turnoff for me in a game - if a game has cutting edge graphics, it means they had to spend most of their budget on that and it almost always means the gameplay is simpler than what it could be otherwise. This isn't always true, but if your game has bleeding edge visuals, you spent millions of dollars on that and you can't afford to take risks like a smaller budget game would.

I've spent more time in Killing Floor than Left 4 Dead 2 and more time in Dungeons of Dredmor than any other RPG.

Friend of mine was telling me about the old X-Com games and if there's even 1/4 of the depth there I want to try it out.

I don't realy care much about graphics. It's the point that its multi platform and thats the sole reason for the high price. They could have made it pc only threw on a 20-30 buck price tag. Or app market too for the same price point. I've watched total biscuits wtf is, and he loves it, (along with some great let's play) but it is buggy as hell with clipping, and I don't like randomness of your troop classes, should have control of there class. With all this said, I want to play the game but its just priced out of my range.

I also wish i coukd get ftl on the app market. But for the price on steam its priced great and has provided me many hours of game play.

Well I suckered my roommate into buying me Xcom. Gotta say, I've loved every minute of playing it. The intro/tutorial is very railroaded though, made me a bit frustrated. However, since then it's been a blast. I highly recommend it.
I can't think of anything worth putting here, so I decided not to have anything of consequence.

XCOM is depressingly random, though, and combat variety's preeetty limited. game's just about scurryin from cover to cover and hoping the enemies you haven't yet detected don't get a flank on you. I prefer my turn-based strategy a little less swingy (and can I think of an example I cannot).

it could definitely easily be an iOS title.

Playing Borderlands, the first one, for the first time through.

Got FTL and managed to get the Zoltan ship to the last stand and beat the flagship... at which point it came back, launched like a dozen drones at me and wasted me completely. WTF?!

Did get the layout B for the Zoltan though. Made it to section 5 without raising reactor output and killed a ship with my special shield still up.

I'm trying to play borderlands since I never beat it. Most of my friends have played it all the way through more than once. so I tend to get bored playing alone.

Hotline Miami looks fucking sweet. Also, you can use a rooster mask, which might appeal to certain audiences who enjoy using a chicken suit in Killing Floor....  ;)

I've been playing The Binding of Isaac again since I got the expansion.  It's got a lot of the good rogue-like elements without the frustrating bullshit (I swear to God, if I get banished to the Abyss in DungeonCrawl:Stone Soup one more time...).  Plus you get to fight monsters with your own tears; sometimes blood too.

All together, the game and expansion are the best $8 I've ever spent.

EDIT: I can't seem to figure out the forum magics to embed youtube videos, so here's a link to a trailer:
