Congratulations Mr. Payton
« on: July 09, 2011, 01:47:38 PM »
I’m a long time listener to the podcast, long time lurker to the forms, and I'm not a bot that is going to tell you about experiences my wife and I had with craigslist ads.  I just registered to say the following (before sneaking back to the shadows).

Congratulations on the Ennie nomination.

Road trip is awesome, and you deserve the nod (even if you have to go up against DG).

Thanks! Going against DG isn't as bad as going against Pathfinder. Paizo's going to crush everyone in the online voting.

Is Pathfinder that great?  People seem to be either obsessed with it like it's the greatest thing in the world, or think it's just stupid...

It's basically 3.5E D&D with a bunch of house rules. I mean they've changed some stuff but it's fundamentally the same.

I think you need to have Yog-So-Soft pay the Piazo HQ a visit.

Congratulations on the nod, it's well deserved! I will echo your comments about Pathfinder, it's basically 3.5 D&D with the serial numbers filed off and a two liter soda bottle on the barrel serving as a silencer.

I know I'm proabably in the minority on this forum, but I actually like Pathfinder quite a bit. No, it's not the greatest thing ever. And yes, it's basically 3.5(that's kind of the point). But I still love the pathfinder/3.5 system, flaws and all. Just having too much fun and good experiences with it right now. Nothing against 4th Ed, more power to it. Just not as much my cup of tea.
Anyways, congrats on the nomination as well. That really is awesome.

I didn't say PF being 3.5E was a bad thing just that it was a thing. I played the shit out of 3E and 3.5E.

No worries, that's how I thought you meant it. To be fair, it is a system with it's problems of course. Just commenting on why I'm still partial to it.
Tis all good.

Actually, I'd really like to try Iron Heroes. I do hear it's awesomeness condensed in rpg form.
It's sort of Robert E. Howardish, right?

I really wish that we'd recorded the IH campaign we ran. Holy balls it was amazing.
