A couple of my favorites:

88 Lonely philosopher fond of cat. Hypnotises it—as it were—by repeatedly talking to it and looking at it. After his death the cat evinces signs of possessing his personality. N.B. He has trained cat, and leaves it to a friend, with instructions as to fitting a pen to its right fore paw by means of a harness. Later writes with deceased’s own handwriting.

106 A thing that sat on a sleeper’s chest. Gone in morning, but something left behind.

No Lovecraft. Just because the cat slept on your face and left you a "present" you can't turn that into a horror story.

192 Thibetan ROLANG—Sorcerer (or NGAGSPA) reanimates a corpse by holding it in a dark room—lying on it mouth to mouth and repeating a magic formula with all else banished from his mind. Corpse slowly comes to life and stands up. Tries to escape—leaps, bounds, and struggles—but sorcerer holds it. Continues with magic formula. Corpse sticks out tongue and sorcerer bites it off. Corpse then collapses. Tongue become a valuable magic talisman. If corpse escapes—hideous results and death to sorcerer.

This needs to be a spell in Call of Cthulhu.  Bigby's Puissant Tongue?

Watching True Detective has me gnashing my teeth for A Dirty World involving drunk, knife wielding, suicidal, burned-out cops.  I certainly appreciated the Lovecraftian weirdness of season 1 but I'm falling for the corrupt industrial wasteland of season 2.

I just started listening to the Dead Authors Podcast on the recommendation of a friend, and holy shit is it wonderful. The premise is that Paul F. Tompkins, in the guise of H. G. Wells, snatches dead authors from history, who are played by other comedians, and interviews them before a live audience. The episode where John Hodgman played Ayn Rand had me literally cackling, and they even did one with E. Gary Gygax.

Saw this at a local indie theatre last night, it was great fun.

Zombies invade the Australian Outback in this brain-splattered, Mad Max-meets-the-undead thrill ride. When an apocalyptic event turns everyone around him-including his wife and daughter-into marauding zombies, everyman mechanic Barry arms himself to the teeth, soups up his car, and hits the road in order to rescue his sister from a deranged, disco-dancing mad doctor. Bursting with high-octane car chases, crazy-cool homemade weaponry, and enough blood-and-guts gore to satisfy hardcore horror fans, WYRMWOOD: ROAD OF THE DEAD takes the zombie flick to bone-crunchingly berserk new heights.

The poster and trailer said "Mad Max meets Dawn of the Dead", but I was also reminded a lot of Army of Darkness. What with the way the zombies moved, the campyness of the humour and the way they bashed together the zombie-fuelled truck.

I backed Wyrmwood's indiegogo. I saw it a few months ago. They had some fun ideas and I enjoyed it. Didn't quite live up to the trailer they shot for it first but what does?

I only saw the theatrical trailer, got pretty much what I expected.

They also showed a new trailer for Turbo Kid before Wyrmood.  I asked the proprietors if they'd show it a while ago (Canadian retro 80's post-apoc teen movie), and I'm still gonna see it, but holy shit does it look stupid.  At least it's got Michael Ironside overacting like a champ.

Link is safe for work but depending on your own sensibilities you may or may not wish to view. I can neither confirm nor deny the accuracy of the map although since two are near my home I am thinking about venturing out to see that. Dildocaching as it were.

One of my first thought when I saw this was how can I work this into a game. Are these mapping ley lines (pun intended) or some symbol venerating Y'golonac perhaps.
