What is your favorite pencil and paper role playing game of all time?  ;D

EDIT: I forgot to mention mine i cant decide for i have played very few differnt rpgs

I started with DnD 3.5 and have played a lot of 4 recently.  I probably would have to say Dungeons and Dragons just because it is so established and pretty solid.  However I really like the "theory" I guess of Call of Cthulhu, and listening to some of Ross's and others' games, I think that might come close to surplanting DnD if I had a group that was really into playing/running it...

I actually started when i picked up a copy of 'Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay' (Hogshead publishing) from the UK Games day 1997. So down to Nostalgia and a run of good campaigns it would have to be that.
But Dnd 4.0 and Call of Cthulhu are very close silver medals.

For me Warhammer 3rd edition is amazing and so much fun to dm...

iT IS SO DIFFERENT FROM EVERYTHING ELSE...

The original Bureau 13, but only because the bestiary included such gems as Animated Clothing and Undead Tree Weasels. *

And also, Chivalry and Sorcery has a great mechanic for actions. I first played it with an amazing GM, and my character was a knight, so the combination of awesome story and cleaving wizards in two with my chivalric great blow lead to fond memories of the system.





* scariest thing about an undead tree weasel is that nobody's ever seen a live tree weasel

Dread, the only RPG to use Jenga as a conflict resolution mechanic.  Most creative and fun game I've ever played.

I love 4e, but I have a very soft spot in my heart for Monsters and Other Childish Things.

Monsters and Other Childish Things is my favorite because it's awesome on it's own and I can use the engine to play any other game I want. For example, I'm currently setting up for a game based on White Knight Chronicles. I spent time reading through GURPS and Mutants and Masterminds for how to do a game which has people fighting in giant suits of armor when I realized that the Knights are basically Monsters. I can make them all individuals without having to invest hours into character creation.

Awesome system.

I have played D&D primarly, started with 2.0, also a bit of Shadowrun 2.0 and 4.0 (I think?)

Some stuff I would like to try is Paranoia, Toon, Mouseguard, Burning wheel, and I have been reading about Monsters and other childish things and would like to try that one as well.

It's far less than what I except from a Level 5 game. After Rogue Galaxy and Jean de Arc I had high expectations and White Knight did not met them. I enjoy the game (which doesn't say much if you know the kind of games I like) but it doesn't deliever like I thought it would.

But the concept is something I greatly enjoy and the places have fairly easy to remember names. And besides that no one else has played it so I can work without fear of insider trading.

I'm also considering using Monsters to run a CthulhuTech Mecha game. Batting around other stuff as well.

My wife really wanted to play WKC and I wanted to as well until the reviews came in. I just wanted a new RPG, so I am chomping at the bit until next Tuesday.

Has anyone played 'Heavy rain?'  I have heard some really interesting things about it, not sure it fits the RPG nitch, it might create its own?

I'm looking forward to Heavy Rain. There's some other RPGs coming down the line that I don't recall the names of at the moment.
