Worthwile Rifftrax
« on: September 20, 2010, 01:42:37 PM »
I am in the middle of watching the Twilight Rifftrax and it has rekindled my love of MST3K.

I am currently downloading The Room rifftrax but I haven't seen The Room on it's own yet, should I watch it alone first?

So any Rifftrax that you guys around these parts find particulary good?

Bonus Question: What was your favorite MST3K episode? Mine was "Warrior of the Lost World"

The Master... will be... PLEASED. He wanted you... to see... my movie, but I, I am giving it to you!

(I have to recommend 'Swing Parade'. It has the Three Stooges in it and it's a romantic movie. With Swing and Parades. And mules going blind.)

Bourne Identity
300
Casino Royale
Fantastic 4
House on Haunted Hill (i prefer the one with just Mike)
Independence Day
Halloween 3, Frogs (iriffs by Hor-riff-ic)
Minority Report, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Speed, Die Hard (iriffs by RiffRaffTheater)
Jaws
Next
Memento
Matrix 1&2 (the third is just ok IMO)
Over the Top
Plan 9 from outer space and Reefer Madness (either the one with just Mike or all 3)
All 3 Spidermans
X-Men 2
Swing Parade
X-Files
Both Star Trek New Voyages (World Enough and Time, and To Serve all my Days)

Those + what Ross mentioned are ones I can watch over and over and are all pretty damn good.

Rifftraxs Favorites:

Reefer Madness Rifftrax LIVE (If you have not gotten to see one yet, DO IT),
The Dark Knight
Twilight
Twilight: New Moon
Attack of the Clones
The Matrix
Casino Royale
Fellowship of the Ring (LOR movies are still great, but the Riffs were dead on)

MST3K Favorites:

Two-way tie between The Day the Earth Froze for the Joel era and Pumaman for the Mike era.

Best MST3k has to be Space Mutiny.

Worst MST3k:  Los Manos the Hands of Fate.  Nothing happens in that movie, so there's nothing to make fun of.

But it would make a hell of a CoC scenario.

Last year on Christmas Eve a bunch of us got together and watched Santa Claus vs. The Devil it wasn't too bad. I haven't seen him conquer the martians yet though.

I like the crappy mexican santa claus movie more then santa conquers the martians.

Space Mutiny is right there at the top for me with Manos, Laserblast and Pumaman.

Also, I love the Coleman Francis Trilogy (skydivers, red zone cuba and the beast of yuca flats)

Thanks looks like I have some saving up to do. Even at just 2 bucks a piece and the fact that I own most of those movies I will be treating myself here and there rather than going on a binge.

I actually wasn't very impressed with New Moon...

That said, I do think it's important to watch The Room without the Rifftrax first, but it would be somewhat tough to do by yourself...

What about with 3 likeminded individuals with booze and a desire to watch crappy movies?
