Good Dog: Once per encounter, you can use either the puppy eyes or valiant bark power.
You are just too adorable to hit.

I feel sick

The reason that he manipulated the magic system was due to a streak of bad luck in our first session:

We were in a shootout at a motel against a gang of orcs. I just got done killing one of them when our weapons specialist critically glitches and shoots me in my spine. Our mage (first time roleplayer and very confused by the rules) takes the GM's advice to heal me. She overcasted Heal with a poor success roll and a very poor drain resistance roll. Everyone had their noses in the books trying to figure out how to heal in a reasonable manner.

If anyone can simplify the system for me and let me know just how easy it is to heal I will be forever indebted.

General Chaos / Re: Pooping at work

My particular pleasure in pooping at work, aside from the biologically obvious and previously mentioned, is that I don't have to pay for the TP I'm using.

The downside is that I work for a residential treatment facility for kids with mental and behavioral disorders; I hate starting to unload only to get called to help restrain a kid over the radio.

Unfortunately I understand that all too well. I also work at an RTC. It's almost like the outhouse death scene in Jurassic Park, you finally get a chance to defecate and then all you hear is screaming, anxiety poop is the worst kind of poop... excluding dysentery.

General Chaos / Re: Top 5 Sega Genesis Games
« on: August 31, 2009, 03:31:46 AM »
1. Street of Rage 2 - Has some of the best music on the genesis. It's fun to beat the shit out of people with a friend.

3. General Chaos - great fun to be had scorching people.

4. Gunstar Heroes - Great coop fun, cool style, fun weapons.

Seriously Streets of Rage 2 Stage 3 Part 2: Alien Power is one of my favorite songs EVER!!!        um..... wow I'm lame
General Chaos is probably the only Sega game I rented even when I had the Sega Channel!!!!
and Gunstar Heroes is a game that I still play at least yearly to date.
I got such a purist hair up my ass last year that I bought Genesis after Genesis off eBay 'til I got a working system just so I could play (excluding the previously mentioned titles):
1.Eternal Champions - another great Sega soundtrack, and phenomenal fighting game as long as you NEVER heard of the "Sega Activator"
      2.X-men / X-men 2: Clone Wars
      3.B.O.B. - Sidescrolling at it's best
4.I know Ross mentioned Shining Force, but dammit, he's dead to me... so Shining Force 1 and 2
5.Zero Wing (cliche and the godfather of memes, but you got to know your roots, for great justice!)

p.s. At first I was surprised to see almost all my favorite games mentioned in only 6 posts... then I remembered we were talking about the Genesis here.

Stoic Children.... scare the fucking spooky shit out of me.

I have nightmares of having children and waking up to see them quietly watching me from the foot of my bed with blank expressions.

Mmmm...Vasectomy you're mah only friend.

TOPIC ZOMBIE!!!!
Brought this topic back from the grave yard because I could relate fairly well:

Started playing a Shadowrun 4th ed game last month, this is the GM's first time GMing and his first experience in Shadowrun.
d6 went right out the window: d10 system incorporated. 1-2 glitch 8-10 hit
Game ran as a survival horror instead of a run'n'gun (not entirely unheard of, but daring for a first time runner)
Encorporating major elements from VTM and prestige classes from d&d 3.5.
Magic system being rewritten weekly.

Surprisingly enough, I absolutely love it. Keeps me guessing ya' know?

I'm Hero, 25 year old Pastafarian. My first serious role-playing experience was Dream Park when I was 11. Game comparably as terrible as World of Synnibarr: http://www.waynesbooks.com/DreamPark.html

I got a half dead iPod from my girlfriend and thought it would be most useful to listen to other people play RPGs as I was too scarred to play myself (due to an incident mentioned in the  Anecdote megathread: TPF)

After months of intense gaming therapy aided by Ross, Tom, Cody, Jason, Dan, and well, you... I am now back and hosting two games a week (D&D 3.5 and Shadowrun 4e) and presently creating my char in All Flesh.

I unfortunately had no time to prepare for last weeks game so had to do all but one encounter "on the fly".
Funny thing was that they really didn't feel like pursuing the planned encounter so it was all "on the fly".
The things the PCs responded to the best:

1.Have NPC's frame the innocent and do your best to make the innocent look guilty: A workaday thief ran into a tavern and sat next to a couple of dock workers and talked to them, then sneaks out the back. The party split into two and I have to tell you the pulp fiction interrogation that ensued was the most fun I've had GMing.

2.One munchkin in my game was dying to bang a drunk chick, I had "Layonya" come back for more, each time having him roll a d100. Would you believe he was surprised to find out shes extremely pregnant now?

3.Present opportunities that pit player against player (not so much violently as situationally):
The players were presented with a potent hallucinogen and seeds to grow more.
Druid: Cultivating it in secret and doing everything to not allow it integrate into the city
Dragon Shaman: Attempting to brew potions and poisons with it for party benefit and profit
Hexblade: Essentially the teetotaler of the party
Rogue: Believes offering it like candy negates poor diplomacy rolls

Just make sure you can read the players and determine when they're have a good time, also make sure you are having a good time. That's the most important part. (I swear I'm insightful and not belaboring the obvious)
