So I normally buy components and build my own desktop.  I don't really know where I can buy parts for a laptop and don't even know if it would be cost effective since so much of them are prepackaged.  Given that, I am looking for a decent laptop to run internetz, the office suite, and at the most, simple ODE solve code in MATLAB.  I'm not too picky on brand, but would prefer at least a dual core.

Has anyone purchased anything similar recently?  Or have any leads?  I wanted to stick in the $600 range.

I wish that Melvar knew how to spell his own name. Sulu has done enough conventions to know how to spell Melllvar.

It came from WoW.  They didn't allow 3 same consecutive letters.  I thought it was lame and having some logins "Melvar" and others "Melllvar" is a pain in my ass.

I wish I had more expendable income to purchase roleplaying books and videogames...

Granted.  A high paying job falls in your lap, however it requires a 125 hour work week, leaving little time for gaming.

I wish I were a lumberjack, cutting down trees, skipping and jumping.

Granted.  Black, white and the full grey scale between are a very nice collection of an infinite number of colors.

Granted.  Within a day thousands of Chinese workers are shipped into your town in large crates.  The construction is completed within a day.  However, the Chinese are not shipped back to China and are now looking for jobs.  I hope your CV is up to date.

I wish that there were some way to place my wife's cat in stasis while she is gone for 2 weeks and take it out before she comes home.  I hate taking care of that damn thing.

Granted.  But my army of undergrads are more dispensable and swiftly overtake your grad students, burying them in typos, bad math, and unbalanced chemical reactions.
