Brief conversation between Locke and Pontifex: Ep 10, approximately 37 min mark:
*This is just my summary of the conversation not the exact words spoken, but as I am listening to it concurrently it should be the 'meaning' behind what their saying. Let me know if anyone thinks I missed something or interpreted it wrong. Thx :*)
Pontifex: "I realize why your group had such a problem with me, with taking my furniture earlier... you see I have been use to working with all the natives, they view me as a force of nature. You don't argue with a rain storm and you certainly don't steal from the sun. Which is why I never bothered to put more security on it, because I forgot that you wouldn't know about me, but do you know why they view me like a force of nature?"
Locke: "Umm... Why is that?"
Pontifex: "Well... Once upon a time there was a tribe that displeased me. They were worshiping Orcus, umm, do you know Orcus?"
Locke: "no."
Pontifex: "He is a very powerful demon lord, claims to be the lord of the undead. They paid homage to me because I am undead and blah blah blahh, but I technically pay homage Vecna, the god of secrets, who is also a litch and a god. I am not very faithful, its more of a quid pro quo, but any way, I was disgusted by them, they were causing all kinds of problems in the near by environment and distracting me from my studies, so I with a few allies went there and killed every adult in their tribe and then I gave all their children away to enemies of their tribe. To replace the ones they had sacrificed to Orcus. So a few thousand dead in a night, so since then the tribes have been remarkably good about staying clear of me... "
Locke: "... good..."
Pontifex: "So tell me how good is the Raven Queen... are you satisfied with her as a goddess?"
Locke: “Umm… Defiantly!”
Pontifex: “I just have to ask, out of respect to Vecna, who wants always more cults and faithful, but honestly I can’t stand zealots of any type, even of my own faith because they are just so boorish.
Locke: “I believe that the Raven Queen teaches us that from one life into the next there is not such thing as death, really,” Pontifex laughs softly, “its just death is a passage into something else… and so I find that comforting”
Pontifex: “Yes, and if you don’t like going into the next stage you can always find a way to aaah, override it.”
Locke: “Yeah.”
Pontifex: “Well, yes, let me know, use your familiar ‘Patario’ to send me any messages. Make sure to recruit the scribe as we will need him.”
I choose this section of conversation because it deals directly with the section of time I am interested in writing to, namely the culling of the tribe that disgusted Pontifex. If anyone has any more information about that point in time let me know here please.
Cheers,
