Role Playing Public Radio Podcast / Re: Giant Corpse Island: Conclusion?
« on: November 12, 2017, 11:19:54 AM »
not the man himself, obviously, but imagined some conclusion showing down at the tail of the stingray that culminates in their finally using the genocide sword. And I guess with the idea of it being an improv game, he actively never planned for it beyond the map. Something about "15 minutes and a six pack" to prepare each session

Chose Nightcrawler in The Skynet Paradox (and as my avatar) for a reason. ... As well as the fact that Aaron asked if we couldn't be Mega Man variants  :) Would love to play as Kurt again.

The League game was so much fun. Hope others can experience it either in Patreon games or maybe at Gencon.

I'm about 30 in and enjoying it!

so you're called upon to play a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen game, ala the RPPR games. who do you play!?

due to a strange hand of Cards Against Humanity, I've settled on Nicholas Cage's spirit infused into a giant wicker mecha

Inferno Cop, The Scotsman from Samurai Jack, and the Heavy Weapons Guy from TF2 were high priorities too

I am happy but my last name is Payton not Patton. I am not a dead general.

Congratulations!

it's a marked improvement all the same

fixed that up. I was kind of caught up in the fire and brimstone speech, and I'm better at listening to podcasts than being literate

"MAD!!" they said! "A QUEST FOR FOOLS!" they wailed. "ALL HAVE FAILED!!!" they pointed out politely. the Drunk and Ugly fell to its might. Our own sleek team of two failed to finish it. its own creators never truly ended their campaign of it, their finale untouched.

every character to ender the Road Trip campaign vanished into a limbo of one-shots or schedule conflicts... SAVE BUT ONE!

we obtained a copy of MaOCT's Road Trip personally cursed by Ross Payton (we assume) and ran the game, and we FINISHED it! we did the impossible and broke the curse, freeing the damned souls trapped inside the book's pages when despair overcame them! Ross "Dreadlord" Patton no longer wrings his bony claws knowing he is insurmountable! HE CAN BE SURMOUNTED!

THE CURSE IS BROKEN! IT CAN BE DONE! THE WRONGCLOCKS LIVE TO TELL THE TALE!

and posted it all recorded on here:

it was fun! Still a super fun read, even before we played it through

VERY interested in that play copy for my group

looking forward to backing the project once it's in Kickstarter mode just like No Soul Left Behind. for now, I've got a consistent group to run it for and we record online, so that should be helpful feedback

only downside being I'm a bit of a slow reader, but we often have "well someone's missing. what backup should we do tonight?"

Ross: "Oh god! Senishao was the horse all along! Trojan horse! We should have known!"
Caleb: "Beer in the nose! Beer in the nose!!"
Bill: "I see what you did there..."

Caleb: "There is a farm with paths on it..."
Ross: "Become the Clydesdale! Double Trojan horse! Aha!"
Caleb: "I'll see your horse... and raise you a horse..."

I had to write those down as I heard them. too perfect not to commemorate. haven't gotten all the way through, but do we learn who the other two candidates for the Schrodinger hero was? or is that book bait?

Cracklin' Oat Bran. it looks like dog food, crunches like dog food before it absorbs the milk, but I adore it

that and Peanut Butter Captain Crunch, but been harder since I've been living with someone who's allergic

Recruitment Board / Late-Night Gaming Recruitment

loose and casual GM trying to gather players for late weeknight games (starting around 1AM EST, Monday night/Tuesday morning, or that time through Thursday nights/Friday mornings)

been big on MaOCT, just have been trying to poke around into other games, and my usual group's schedule has been shaky. I've got a sizable list of what I can run, but just a few favorites...

Gobblin': a d12 homebrew I'm in the tail end of playtesting. Goblins are banished from the fantasy realm for their cowardice and idiocy, landing in post-apocalypse Earth... and loving all the free food and guns left over.

Macho Man Randy Savage Force: players are each a Macho Man Randy Savage. The president has been kidnapped by the mafia's mummies! The cops are powerless! The army is useless! Time to hire the toughest team of mercenary Macho Man Randy Savages to save the day, just for things to get even crazier as the plot thickens.

Apocalypse World: holy shit an actual system! Meant to be run pretty tongue-in-cheek and full of sarcastic grit, and with a cinematic tone of using players' relationships to start the game with getting a job offer to one or two characters, then a string of "I know a guy" leading to shorter sub-quests to gather the team and take on the big heist.

Cocklords: crude homebrew. simple, low-fantasy game ala Game of Thrones or LoTR, but with the recurring theme of every person, thing, and place possible is named as a straight-faced dick joke. Players are assorted knights, diplomats, scouts, etc. under one or more of the Cocklords, the four rulers of Domepeace and indirect heirs to the passed King Freud, primarily defending the realm from bandits and the wandering beasts of the southern Taintlands. Run totally PG, nothing but puns, groans, and giggles for all.

The League of Cheesy Movies: FATE. One-shot revolving around a super team-up of characters from or inspired by MST3K movies and their mythos to save the world by punching werewolves and such. Puma Man! Jet Jaguar! El Santos! Zap Rowsdower! Assemble!

have yet to run or play it, but have a scenario and some lightly modded rules for Walmart Apocalypse using FATE, and think I've got enough grasp on Base Raiders to walk some players through character creation whenever we can manage the time

Caleb has rapidly become a favorite in my recent game of catchup with RPPR games. also working up a game system myself the last few months, he and Ross's workshop episodes have been both helpful, entertaining, and an insightful sell that's got me itching to hear and read more on Red Market

also the Dungeon World game just been outstanding sort of fantasy game. really an ideal I like to see: hits the big fantasy tropes, but have a big "fuck you, boredom" curve thrown in with the giant corpse island

Road Trip and Better Angels, looking forward to Red Market
