Stringer Bell owns all of Asgard's corners.

But, anyways, let's consider this: Thor isn't real. He never was, even when he was "real" to the Norse.

Do you mean because the people who worshiped Thor didn't have a written language (unlike say the Egyptians) we don't really know all that much about the actual religion?

What's your point is what? Runic alphabet does not compare to Egyptian hieroglyphics.

you say they didn't have a written language. They did.

I am really not clear on what angle your supporting here, Ryo.

The only angle I support?

Isn't the point of this thread that the new "Thor" movie is going to suck huge, sweaty donkey balls?

Not really, the point of this thread is to make fun of somebody on the internet with an opinion.

I'm optimistic about the movie. Comic movies have been on the rise recently, especially the Avenger lead up films. From the trailer I saw the action looked decent enough, the Aesir look badass, and Thor looks like a tough dude.

Odin didn't appeal to me but then he hasn't in any media I've ever actually been able to see him in. American Gods Odin was pretty cool. And, of course, Loki looking slimy in his all black outfit. *sigh*, where have you done my colorful trickster frost giant/god?

I dunno, I'm kinda done with superhero movies. I want too much from them and I think they suffer focusing too much on being yet another megafranchise, megastar, moneymaking engine than to pay respects to the original work.

I think Thor's gonna suck, I think Captain America's going to suck (What you say? Another undisciplined character full of snark and boyish good looks that has to face the responsibility of being a hero? Ironman/Greenlantern/Johnnystorm/CaptainAmerica/GhostRider/etc blah), but I think Avengers is going to be a fucking monsterhouse of awesome.

Until then I wait for Guillermo Del Toro's "Mountains of Madness" movie.
Thanos: "I am going to sacrifice the Earth to gain the love of Death"
Me: (slowly raise eyebrow) "Destroy the Earth? That would be...illogical"
Vortex: "Yes...that...would be...highly...illogical."
Thanos: "Your Star Trek references bore me."

I am vaguely reminded of the sickening travesty that was the Clash Of The Titans remake from what little I've seen of the impending Thor movie. I've got this feeling that the new Thor flick will make the Thor-girl from Adventures In Babysitting look like an academy award winner...

I don't know, but I feel like Thor was one of the last, GOOD, unmolested properties from my childhood (man, oh man did I love those old Thor comics from the late 80s - just classic!) and now Hollywood has got it's hooks into it.

A few big name actors, state of the art CGI and a gazillion dollar budget doesn't guarantee a winner: look at Ang Lee's Hulk movie. Sure it was interesting to watch, but it was ultimately hollow - not to mention the fact that Mr. Lee completely ass-fucked the source material!

Feel free to blast away while I opine about the "good ole' days"...

In the future, all movies set in the fantastic will be performed with the SCREAMISH accent. For those of you unfamiliar with this accent, it consists of the speaker simply screaming at the top of their lungs for the duration of their dialogue.

It will be hours and hours of dudes in chainmail armor just going AAARRRRRRRIIIEEEEE and OOOOOUUURRRRGGGHHH at each other. Occasionally, a regal queen will enter the frame and say EEEEEEEEEEEEEE, but Hollywood knows people go to the movies for action, not plot, so those scenes will be brief and far between.

I commented as "Not getting Jiggy with it" and slammed my own website in a shameless attempt at getting more hits. Then, he responded and lied.

I do like how he called me a "typical leftist from Los Angeles."
