I'm sure the answer is 'yes', considering the population here and the previous comics thread from whenever it was. As I gave up Necromancy to instead take Transmutation I can't rezz that thread, so. . .
I'm a big fan of street-level heroes and anything noir-esque. Gritty, hardboiled stuff just gets me going. Marvel wise, there was Power Man and Iron Fist, Heroes for Hire, DC had The Question (pre Montoya), some of the earlier Hellblazer stuff was right up my alley. So I want to ask, since you all probably know way more 'bout comics than I do.
Anything you'd recommend?
I'd recommend Juan Díaz Canales' (writer) and Juanjo Guarnido's (artist), Blacksad, which Dark Horse finally got around to publishing the first three volumes in English last year, in a *beautiful* hardcover book I got my hands on yesterday. Couldn't put it down. Art was stunning, particularly Guardnido's ability to convey emotion through expression. Reminds me a lot of Usagi Yojimbo.
Also read Brian Talbot's Grandville, which was pretty decent. Though all the steampunk stuff set my teeth on edge.
