Future Podcast Topics
« on: March 21, 2013, 05:57:46 PM »
since i was here discussing the future methought, why not list some fodder for the RPPR cannon?

there's a thread for this already i know, but.

1. Precognition.

2. The Proper Care & Feeding of your Power-Gamer.

3. RPG & Healthy Lifestyles

4. (wtf is) Story-Gaming (& why should I care)

5. Grappling as an RPG enigma

6. Dice mechanics (linear vs. the curve)

7. Armor Class (or, why I stopped playing D&D)

8. Flame Warriors (why we battle over editions)

9. Cross-Genger Horror (or, how to make "My Little Pony" scary)

10. The Line (or, how to move from Player to GM to Game Designer)

Like Clubber Lang, "I got alotta more!" but this should start it off. I'm hoping others post topics as well.

maybe. It seems podcasts tend to fade, or mimic what everyone else is doing. Right now, it's AP.

You guys ROCK!

Here is one.
How to run a game with the usual GM as a player. How do you keep the guy who is usually in charge happy while still maintaining your control. ( episode name could be 'RPPR crew talk about Ross' )

EDIT: I'm not putting this up here just to mess with Ross (although that's part of the fun).  I actually have this problem.

How about a detailed list of how and why Ross is a horrible monster. Sort of like a roast but you know you burn the monster at the end.

How about an episode that covers converting popular video games to table top?  There's any number of these, like the Saga Mass Effect.  What to think about not only mechanically but story wise?

Another topic I would like to hear about would be converting one table top system to another, like injecting CoC into D&D or Wild Talents.
"Old R'lyeh Brewery. Enjoy a cold one on the Great Old One!"

The Proper Care & Feeding of Your Rules Lawyer (i keep them close).

OD&D Tactics (how to survive vs. those monsters)

Rules vs. Rules-Lite

Translating Sci-Fi to RPG (or, making Star Wars & Eclipse Phase enjoyable)

Balance in Super-hero RPGs (or, how to say no to munchkins)

L5R: Expanded (or, how Ninja & Samurai Heroes grow up in the same village)

Our Dirty World (or, how to run true Pulp games, Caleb-style)

The Nine (or, how the 9 AD&D Alignments fit with the 9 Enneagram Personalities)

yep.

For system focused episodes I would like Caleb to be on one talking about A Dirty World/Better Angels.

For broader topics:

Humor in gaming, examples of "funny" games (Paranoia) vs humor in serious games.

How important is historical accuracy? (only a tinny tiny mine field)

The Conspiracy. How has it changed since the 90s and how does that effect games now with the NWO/Illuminati/UN/Jews no longer at the front of the paranoid part of pop-culture.

System agnostic books, kind of a review/grab bag episode talking about things written not for a system but a setting. Also talking about making/using these things.

Cooking episode?

Maybe do an episode about doing Actual Play episodes?

I imagine there are some differences between how people are inclined to act while being recorded(at least at first), even possibly discussing any technical hurdles you have found.

Maybe an episode about new, creative approaches to game design vs. what's familiar.

Daring to be inventive.

Story arc-driven dungeon crawls vs. " .... you meet in a bar."

Arc-driven supers adventures vs. "In Medias Res" or the usual Camp.

At least one "Star Wars" arc that begins at the same time, or before, Luke's story.

A ShadowRun game that embraces characters of overall Good alignment.

A Call of Cthulhu game that saves lives (to include the PCs), rather than decimates.

It doesn't require setting to complete a game - a great alternative space for character action & reversed outcome can do the trick.

L5R: Expanded (or, how Ninja & Samurai Heroes grow up in the same village)

I'd love hearing other peoples thoughts about that, as I'm getting ready to run a Scorpion clan centric campaign.

Of course, there is always the obvious answer that in the Scorpion clan, where the majority of Ninja are from, fellow scorpion can easily look the other way in regards to the ninja, as long as said ninja is being loyal to the clan.   Only when around other clan members would they have to cut down the filthy scum for being an honorless ninja.

Plus, L5R, Samurai, while they can be considered heroes, do not specifically have to be heroic. Which I love and hate depending what type character i'm playing.
Freedom is not a license for chaos.
