Is it possible to have PbP games that don't devolve into fervent wank-fests?  In my experience it always gets pretty ridonkulous.

Well, if you're a good PbP GM, then you assume that it will become a giant wank-fest and plan a game that is designed to be a giant wank-fest.

Well, now comes the question of the boy-to-girl poster ratio is.
When the GM can't roll higher than a ten on the D20, he see's his plot points flash before his eyes.

It is, with the right gamers. I was in a mortals nWoD game on Giant in the Playground for a month that was really amazing. We even played college students, which would normally lean towards deviant behavior. Good players and a good GM. I was so sad when that one ended.

Very true, now that I think about it.

Note To Self: never play in PbP games with teen girls, even if they are your friends by proxy.

Last PbP games I was in, was a Sailor Moon one actually...and I played an original villain, a sort of cross between Tony Montana and the Phantom of the Opera with a Demon Possession problem~ Which was fun because it followed a real player-driven story, to the point where there was the side story of my villain falling in love with Sailor Mars (by some plot point that she's the only one with her Miko traditions that can actually kill him)~~~and then the girl who ran the site we were playing on decided to ditch it completely and turned it into a Yaoi art site.

"And?"
"People don't like lesbian anime or roleplaying games anymore, madam. They want gay porn."
"Then so be it!"
