We just had a near total solar eclipse here in Iceland.
http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/solar/2015-march-20That in itself is story worthy, but if you want to make it really interesting then...
Well the only place on dry land that had TOTAL solar eclipse this time was Fćreyjar (
The Faror islands) and Svalbarđi (
Svalbard ). Both places are just begging to be deep one colonies.
The Faroe Island are a Danish colony in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. They and have a population of just 50,000 people, their own language, about 1200 years of history and a really interesting customs of
whale herding and butchering.
Svalbardi is even more remote. It's a Norwegian island colony without native population and only about 2,500 inhabitants. But it's a big ass place, 60,000 sq km, about 1/3 of the size of the state of Missouri.
And these two places are the only place that just had a full eclipse.
