Jesus Caleb, I was losing my shit during the Zombie game! I was literally laughing out loud while driving my car down the road.

"Give me the sword!"

Absolutely priceless.
"Screw your idea check! I poke it with a stick!"

Agreed, this was one of the best laughs I've had since Gaga 2.0

I just realized I had never finished Wages of Sin, so I listened to it. Really great game. Caleb can come up with some intense situations in just an hour. The revelation of concurrent wives rather than consecutive is a real mind bender - for most of the game I was thinking, "if they only know two wives, how will they determine which is which?"

I have realized something in tonight's Eclipse Phase game.

Caleb really likes using traps in his games.

I mean, DAMN, he likes him some death traps.

Not just in Eclipse Phase but even way back in Andrew's Fortune he had traps.

Just saying.

If you play in Caleb's games, you should pick some trap finding and disarming skills.

I wasn't kidding when I said you guys didn't have to go on that ship.  Seriously, any of the 4 other methods of infiltration would have left you trap free.  I'll show you the GM packet, if you want.

I think you guys just like walking into death traps. I accept no responsibility.

there were 4 methods?

I thought it was:

1. Jump off a missile onto the habitat - which sounded like a lot of freefall checks and I know someone would have failed and died.

2. Go to AB, the person that wants Thad's character dead and ask for his help.

3. Go to the scum barge.

Then weren't all the opinions equally dangerous? I mean if the apparently safe (-er) opinion is, in fact, a death trap than you'd have served roughly as well with any of the choices.

I knew it would be dangerous because it was a scum barge but the other two sounded like they would kill at least one PC no matter what.

Well, it's Eclipse Phase. Hyperspace Call of Cthulhu. The game master is allowed to present options where in death is a likely possbility. At least the first two options where totally upfront with their dangers. The scum barge was a crap shot of what might try to kill you.

Personally I've gone for the missiles.

Caleb, question...

How did you handle the Mahjong game exactly?

Here's what I wrote up for it...

The G-Jong Game

Considering all the emerging markets around Venus, the various organized crime outfits working in the area have decided to stay in constant contact.  Better to talk out territorial disputes first before bringing out the plasma rifles.  In pursuit of peaceful profiteering, Gerlach is home to the weekly G-Jong game, a friendly game of Mah-Jong used as a front for some heavy gambling and diplomatic negotiations.

The game operates on a transitional economy like everything else.  Credits are used to bet, but rep-scores will do in a pinch.  Slay one of the other representatives in the game, they might be forced to give up information on where Lam Cong Dung might have gone.

The game has three representatives: Fat Yuri from the Night Cartel, Mao Jung of the 14K triad, and Clark Spiegelman from the ID Crew.

•   A Deception roll at -30 will get an operative in as a replacement diplomat for Nine Lives.  10 g-rep or 10,000 credits will buy somebody into Lam’s empty seat.
•   Basic worth is 100 credits per point.  A persuasion check can be used to make that number go up or down.
•   The Sentinel first rolls a Gambling check.  Their MOS or MOF is added/subtracted to their next roll.
•   Encourage players to roll play different NPC’s at the table
•   All four players roll a d100. This is the number of points accrued during the game. Sentinel adds or subtracts the result of their gambling check.
•   Losers pay the number of credits according to their score to the winner.
•   Critical Success means Sentinel wins on a risky maneuver and everyone pays double. Critical Failure means the Sentinel loses on a pass or draw, and pays double to the winner.
•   All NPC’s bust out at 10,000 at has to move to rep to stay in
•   Once an NPC is busted and owes rep., PC’s can ask where the Lam Cong Dung might be fleeing from.

Awesome! Thanks man.  I've been looking for ways to bring gambling into my WT game other than just throwing casino apps on my Ipad.  I think I can swap gambling checks with persuasian/lie and then allow Mind checks for an extra bonus since mahjong has a lot of strategy.  I'll still keep the d100 roll.

I love listening to your game.
