It's a Lovecraft adventure game from the makers of Scratches and Asylum. Need I say more? Yes, I do, they've signed on S.T. Joshi as their consultant.

No, you should not. This project is dicey in the extreme given the controversy surrounding their business dealings with some supposed copyright holders of HP Lovecraft's likeness.

"Puppetland" is a storytelling game (with strings) in a grim world of make-believe. Back it at Kickstarter to bring an expanded, full-color, hardback storybook edition clambering to life. "Puppetland" is written by John Scott Tynes, illustrated by Samuel Araya, Raven Mimura, and Hannah Kennedy, and published by Arc Dream Publishing.

And John Scott Tynes had this to say on G+:

The manuscript is a third longer than the Hogshead edition, which itself was about a third longer than the original version on my website.

I explain how to create Puppetland adventures, include a sample one, and cover quite a bit of advice on how to run and play it successfully. Plus there's a bit about Puppetland LARPs. And some other miscellaneous stuff. Primarily, I wanted to make it easier to run and play.

I have a copy of the Hogshead edition, which I treasure, and I've been looking forward to this new edition since John Scott Tynes mentioned working on it on the Unspeakable! podcast in 2012.

It did smell a bit too good to be true but I committed at the base level to get a single device to see what it did. I fear I should have been more skeptical about its claims and done more due diligence.

Well the good news is that if you read the comments you'll see the thing he's trying to sell does actually exist in some facets. It just doesn't do everything he was promising and he didn't make it.
