We've all read HPL, Howard, Bloch, Smith, etc.. They've produced some fantastic stories that shaped generations of writers.
But oh boy, did they produce some absolute shit as well. And I'm not even referring to the often-discussed racism (OH HAI NIGGER-MAN THE CAT). I'm talking about some awful prose, insane ramblings, nonsensical characters (when there even ARE actual characters), and so on.
But if you are like me, you still enjoy reading these pieces of shit!
SO, what is your FAVORITE mythos story that is DOG SHIT?
Mine HAS to be Old Bugs by HPL. Dear god, what a travesty. It is a frame story, so we are treated to TWO awful stories telling us about the dangers of alcohol. You know what, HPL? FUCK YOUR TEETOTALISM. This is basically the HPL version of an after-school special. And because it is SO BAD, I just have to love it. Nothing beats a drunk shouting his last words in LATIN before dying for. . . reasons.
