I would rather not closely contemplate the core clues.

Inspiration in case anyone wants to run a Call of Cthulhu game about cheesy Mythos evangelists.

We just had a near total solar eclipse here in Iceland.
http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/solar/2015-march-20

That in itself is story worthy, but if you want to make it really interesting then...

Well the only place on dry land that had TOTAL solar eclipse this time was Fćreyjar (The Faror islands) and Svalbarđi (Svalbard ).  Both places are just begging to be deep one colonies.

The Faroe Island are a Danish colony in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.  They and have a population of just 50,000 people, their own language, about 1200 years of history and a really interesting customs of whale herding and butchering.

Svalbardi is even more remote.  It's a Norwegian island colony without native population and only about 2,500 inhabitants.  But it's a big ass place, 60,000 sq km, about 1/3 of the size of the state of Missouri.

And these two places are the only place that just had a full eclipse.

We've had too much fun in Iceland, let's head somewhere safe. . . like Japan!

Call of Cthulhu plots just fall from the sky sometimes.

http://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2015/03/18/pkg-ancient-discovery-basement.cbc-news

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/bathurst-bishop-discovers-16th-century-books-in-diocese-basement-1.2998627

In Bathurst, New Brunswick (Canada) a basement pipe explodes in a Church building and lo and behold, a hidden library is found with books dating back to the late 1500s.  Most of the books were printed in Europe and transferred to the New World.

Quote
He says most of the books they have discovered are scripture, written in Greek and Latin, and some are bound in lamb skin.

"For us, just to touch these books, we have the impression [of going] back in history and to be with people of this time — people at the time of Jacques Cartier touched that book, so it's special."

The oldest book is from 1589 and Jodoin says the collection also includes books written in old French and books written in Mi'kmaq.

According to Wikipedia, Mi'kmaq is:

Quote
... Mi'kmaq, an Eastern Algonquian language .[7][8] Once written in Mi'kmaq hieroglyphic writing, it is now written using most letters of the standard Latin alphabet.

At the very least if you are running the classic Cthulhu scenario The Haunting, if the players don't think to go into the basement you can always have a pipe burst.

For the next news story, do you remember the 13th Warrior?

http://www.history.com/news/islamic-ring-found-in-9th-century-viking-grave

Quote
In the late 19th century, the archaeologist Hjalmar Stolpe spent years excavating gravesites near Birka, a town on the Swedish island of Björkö that operated as a key center for trade during the Viking Age. In a grave of a woman buried in the 9th century, his excavations recovered a silver-colored ring with a purple stone, now in the collections of the Swedish History Museum. Researchers confirmed this week that the ring, which is engraved with Arabic script, provides rare physical evidence of contact between Vikings and the Islamic world.

There's a hole in the universe, 1.8 billion light years across. Physicists call it a "super-void" and say it's the largest structure in the known universe.

Quote: "Its existence only emerged thanks to a targeted astronomical survey, which confirmed that around 10,000 galaxies were “missing” from the part of the sky it sits in."

Fantastic find Radioactive Beer. I hope the Eclipse Phase crew includes it in a future supplement.

CNN had a story about an African cult.

Some of the regalia look vaguely like Hopi Kachinas.
