Monster Mash Game
« on: March 06, 2010, 08:17:52 PM »
Hey guys. So it turns out I'm running a game at a con tomorrow. I thought of a simple concept where the players would be pre-made monster races (hobgoblin, gnoll, minotaur) whose mission is to save the realm by putting a stop to the very violent and greedy adventurers. It would have a beer and pretzel feel but I'm still expecting roleplay from my player who will be playing cliche monsters who's life were ruined due to "heroes".

To start them in-character I'll probably start them at an intervention (Minotaur: "Hi, my name is Maulstein, and I'm an encounter. My wife was brutally murdered and looted down to her wedding ring which isn't even magic, blah blah") where they'll have a chance to improvise a personality influenced of their background and race.

The game would consist of  having to take down a specific few groups of cliche adventurers one way or another in order to stop their lust for loot and XP.

As it's only tomorrow, I'd like to know if you have ideas for missions, player characters or adventurers you'd have. Don't worry about direct rip-off as I'm probably putting Leeroy Jenkins (charging paladin) and Gandalf (ranger duel-wielding sword and staff) in there.

Adventurers ideas:
Warriors of Light from FF1

Missions ideas:
Protect a dungeon from unending lvl 1 swarms, screw up an escort mission, raid an inn where adventurers are sleeping peacefully

You should use some cliche level one spells like entangle or web, etc.

Something fun could be the adventures have been captured and are in a dungeon.  Your intrepid "heroes" could be tasked with guarding them, and the adventures attempt the classic escape attempts, pretending to be sick, going on a hunger strike, trying to dig a tunnel, etc.  They have to disrupt their escape plans could be fun.

Dosn't even have to be fantasy d&d style.

Players are henchmen of Dr. Yes fighting super spy 00Awesome
Players are aliens serving a queen/hivemind that must defend a ship from space marines or other "good guys"
Players are zombies, nuff said.
Players are cultists, must summon evil deity, avoid investigators and sanity loss.

I actually wrote a small scenario where the players are fantasy henchmen (goblins, ogres, etc) and they have to defend a dungeon from a group of adventurers. The only advantage the players would have is that the adventurers must be extremely arrogant and follow standard player logic.

The first part of my scenario centered around the various jobs and duties the players could perform to get ready for the heroes. Some jobs included trap setting, preparing hostages, creating weapons, joining random patrols, and other stereotypical duties. Then, depending on how well they did on their jobs the players would either have a hard job defeating the heroes or a really hard time defeating the heroes.

Player Monsters must raid suburbia.

Player Monsters must defend their reclamation of suburbia after an economic collapse in the kingdom.

Player Monsters must defend a desolated urban center from marauding adventure types that seek to gentrify it.

Alright, it's the morning and I'll prep the game. Thanks for the 2-3 helpful hints, I'm definitely trying to fit in a prison escape scene.

Order 66: If you love a picture, don't quote it. We've seen it already, we don't need to see it twice on the same page. Delete it from your quote if you must

No, big 700 by 800 pictures being quoted is not necessary. It's on the same page so you can just simply say that it's an awesome captain america. This applies to everyone.
