En route to...

Athas.

A world covered in sand.

A world orbiting around a dying sun.

A world devastated by reckless use of arcane magic.

A world ruled by the very tyrants that turned it into a barren wasteland.

A small trade caravan traverses the vast desert of Athas, seeking a share of what little riches remain on the dying world.

What drives them to do so? Is it the stubborness inherent in all mortals, seeking to earn renown that extends beyond their short years?

Is it the optimism that exists in all mortals, hoping to heal the dying world and create a better future for generations to come?

Or is there no reason? Do they travel simply for the sake of it, existing because the alternative of deatth is unappealing?

Regardless of what their motivations may be, the members of this caravan will leave an indelible mark on the world of Athas. Tasked with delivering seemingly innocuous cargo to the village of Freedom, our story of The Three begins...

(What is your character doing/thinking, are they talking to anybody, etc.)

Not exactly sure how much we've done as a group before, but regardless, this is what Melech will usually do during most travels

Not sure if there is any specific formatting you want, so I'll fix it if you have another way you want it

Melech

I walk or ride, whichever is relevant at that moment, often in complete silence.  Thinking through all of my past experiences and schemes figuring out what worked and what didn't, I seek to create the "perfect" plan.  If I do talk with anyone it is either short phrases to answer questions or give commands, or long quiet conversations with one or two others laying out, rehashing, modifying, and rehearsing the next scheme, nothing in between.  I don't care much for travel other than the fact that it gives me a lot of time to think and contemplate while still being productive, and view it merely as a way to pass time between my real labors of love, those "special" jobs we get from time to time...

Like I said, I don't know how much we've done as a group before, and not sure how we fit together.  I kind of imagine my character a bit like Hannibal from the A-Team, kind of a leader, but definitely the planner, but if others have issue with that, I'm down to figuring out how things work as time goes on...

(I'm assuming your characters know one another, unless you want to play out the meeting. I also don't have any criterion for formatting - everybody role-plays differently.)

I second Mckma, not really sure how long we've been together or what our exact relationships are.  Anyway, this is what I think Orrin would be doing while traveling

Orrin constantly moves throughout the caravan, checking in on the group as well as looking out for any dangers (or opportunities) on the road.  Talking to everyone, Orrin projects an aura of enthusiasm and glee.  Traveling is what he was born to do, he does it well, and he takes pleasure in it.  The rest of the group would certainly be lost without him (Orrin tells himself) and he makes sure that the others know it.

"Oh, this sandstorm is nothing. Funny story: once a couple of years back, on the road from Urik to Raam, I was in a sandstorm so fierce that half my caravan were buried alive...yeah...not so much a funny story now that I think about it.  Lost a lot of good people that day.  Anyway, make sure to cover your mouth."

Drik-chkit walks alongside the caravan. He has walked almost the entire journey, giving no indication as to any tiredness. The sandstorm is starting to take force- Drik-chkit looks eerie as his large compound eyes are swatted with sand yet remain unblinking. He points with three of his arms towards the dunes ahead, which are gradually being swallowed whole by the coming dust. His jaws click together as he speaks in broken common.  “Village not far. Keep moving, reach it soon? Or wait storm to pass?”

Steress sighs and tries to seek refuge behind a cart, his voluminous robes blowing behind him rather comically in the storm. He shields his mouth as he speaks, clearly dissatisfied with the situation.

"I would prefer we finish this task as soon as possible. Who knows what rabble we may encounter if we remain here?"

Melech merely nods in agreement, pulls his cloak to protect his face, braces himself against the storm, and prepares to continue on.

OOC: There hasn't been a post since three days ago. Are we waiting for something to happen?
