I know this isn't quite on-topic, but I wanted to confess that I've always imagined Dan and Bill as one unified being who just happens to change his name from night to night. It's only after listening to New World Episode 41 that I realize this is an unhealthy way to view him/them.

I now consider Dan and Bill to be a Siamese twin. One just occasionally sleeps through gaming sessions.

The Introduction is the best thing I've read in a while.

On a similar note:

Any system that addresses things like this becomes hopelessly convoluted. It also becomes a system with abilities like "Discriminatory Taste" and rules on sexual encounters.

Take the lesser of two evils, I say.

Your synopsis made me immediately think of the new incarnation of Clash of the Titans. Now I can't unsee a bunch of dragonborn avatars in shiny glowy armors standing around arguing about how to keep The Man (er, Humans) down.

You could probably research fiction and non-fiction reports related to bombing runs, air force pilots, etc. to create the personalities and encounters related to your freedom-fighting dragons.

it wouldn't be a D&D campaign unless there was at least some wholesale slaughter of a primitive tribe of humanoids.

Then why can't it be Locrag's tribe that gets slaughtered? At least Locrag doesn't appeal to me. Even if his wife is super-hot.

I'm still really surprised there isn't more authentic native slaughter going on in the new world campaign. I mean besides the ogres.

I was so far behind in the Actual Plays that I hadn't heard about this until yesterday. And I was sad when it happened. :(

Could someone help me out on this one, because I don't think I've listened to an AP from other sources that was anything more than "casual".  What's the difference between "casual" play, and what I'm assuming to be the opposite, "hardcore" play?

If there's such a thing as hardcore play, it's at Icosahedrophilia.

My baby bro recently learned that Call of Cthulhu exists, so I pointed him to RPPR. Still don't know if he has listened to anything or not. As a result, though, my dad heard about the site too. He doesn't seem to understand how, or why, people would listen to other people play a tabletop roleplaying game.

I don't think he'd like the site much. He doesn't like "evil characters". There seem to be a lot of those here. <_<

Just got my swag as well. Tons of cool stuff! I'm not "in the know" so I don't know what to make of these dvds {Motor Home From Hell, The Assemblage of The Crystal Sphere}. Looking forward to watching them though. REALLY eager to read through 'King of RPGs' because that is right up my alley. {I'm big into Yu-Gi-Oh.}

The character sheet for the cleric from New World Gaiden is in here too! I tried to read through it but touching it caused my hand to turn black. I'm having trouble seeing to boot. Very strange.

Thanks a lot guys!

My resolution this year is to think less about things I cannot change or solve. (Thinking less is harder than it sounds.)

General Chaos / Re: Interesting "Zombie" Story On CNN...

I think a Freudian psychoanalyst would say that zombies represent Todestrieb - the Death Drive - in all of us. The drive is the source of violence, war, and our counter-intuitive desire to return to an inorganic state. The attempt of humanity to thrive in a zombie apocalypse can be seen as the eternal struggle between the Pleasure and Death drives in Man throughout his life.

Also, maybe someone else wants to be a speedster . . .  ::)
