Interesting. It would be a challenge though depending on when the scenario was set. Now it's a barren island it seems but when there was still military activity on the island, then it would be easier to design an adventure for that.

Because Operation Beaver Cage is too good a name not to be used in some sort of military spoof campaign.

And before I forget, the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare should never be forgotten. Ian Fleming and Christopher Lee working together based out of Baker Street, fighting Nazis on the level that gentlemen shouldn't stoop to, and I am not making this shit up? Brilliant.

WW1 stories are just as insane. Like the pacifist, sharpshooter Alvin York.

Quote
"And those machine guns were spitting fire and cutting down the undergrowth all around me something awful. And the Germans were yelling orders. You never heard such a racket in all of your life. I didn't have time to dodge behind a tree or dive into the brush… As soon as the machine guns opened fire on me, I began to exchange shots with them. There were over thirty of them in continuous action, and all I could do was touch the Germans off just as fast as I could. I was sharp shooting… All the time I kept yelling at them to come down. I didn't want to kill any more than I had to. But it was they or I. And I was giving them the best I had."

I present Operation Acoustic Kitty, the CIA's use of cats implanted with listening devices and antennas to spy on the Russians.

In a near future world where chronic obesity has led to a tremendous increase in the number of diabetes patients, big government decides just to kill all of the fatties by hacking their insulin pump software: http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/10/25/us-medtronic-cybersecurity-idUSTRE79O8EP20111025

Great interview with a historian about why the Third Reich continued to function as a "normal" society even as the Russians pushed into Berlin: http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,798377-2,00.html
