I'M CALLING YOU OUT TADANORI

How's development on Gamer Dead Zone coming?  I'm just curious since it seemed like a cool idea, and I'd like to see it come to fruition.

Oh, and I found your forums.  ;D

How's development on Gamer Dead Zone coming?  I'm just curious since it seemed like a cool idea, and I'd like to see it come to fruition.

Oh, and I found your forums.  ;D

He said my name :D ! It's not audio but I still derive power from it.

Development is not well, actually. My move derailed me considerably. I've known about the move for some months and planned to properly begin the project when I arrived at the new house and could set up a studio. My current lack of a home internet connection is a problem. I've managed to dig out my recording equipment and am in the process of setting up a fitting sound "studio" for recording both the show audio and the games.

My original co-host didn't work out (that was sometime ago) and I've been rewritting my current notes to work with a single individual. I need someone to bounce off of so what I'm effectivally doing to creating a fictional person for me to talk to during the show. My fiance has been generous enought to donate her voice and with a little audio adjustment she'll be playing the role of the computer's AI. So lately I've been nitpicking my audio and my scripts for the show, trying to find a sound that I like.

The more important part of the project, a gamer location system, isn't even onto the runway yet: it's being constructed in the hangar. I don't plan to launch with the locator finished so that's not a major obstacle at the moment.

My primary source of blame (aside from myself) for slow progression is my gaming group. I feel I am unable to squeeze any usable APs out of them, with the exception of one CoC scenario which I'll get online as soon as I have the ability to do so (again, internet no connecty at home). I have two seperate groups: one of friends and another of family.

The family one includes my brother, who is confrontation, and my aunt, who is over analytical. They make for some uncomfortable APs with long dull areas where I try to push them into doing something and am (figuratively) attacked for doing so.

My friend group is often very, very slow. One of them has been known to delay for twenty minutes during a combat round. The current record is 48 minutes. Questions, thinking, and more questions. I hate them all so much sometimes.

Anyway the project is alive, just really slow. I don't have Ross's work ethic.

Fair enough. I don't have Ross's... whatever makes him keep doing the show.

Well, it's good to hear you are making progress, difficult as it may be.  I've tried getting a podcast off the ground myself before and failed (though looking back it was probably due to weakness of concept), so I know where you're coming from.

So you have plans for a gamer location system, perhaps something a la Nearby Gamers?

Also I'm sorry man, but 20-48 minutes for a combat round?  Do you roleplay with Down's kids?  I'm sure you enjoy gaming with your friends (otherwise you wouldn't still be doing it), but at that point I would be screaming JUST DO SOMETHING DAMMIT while beating him/her senseless.

Almost exactly like that, actually. I've never heard of that before.

Short of physical beating, that's what I do.

On the record length one my reactions where as follows:

Gave the GM a good natured ribbing as my character and another PC where knocked Stunned.
Felt excited that the game was action packed and surprises sometimes popped up.
Waited as the GM asked the third PC what she wanted to do.
Waited.
Made suggestion.
Waited.
Made another suggestion.
Asked player to make a choice soon.
Waited.
Made a rules clarification.
Rubbed eyes and told player to hurry up, please.
Waited.
Read rule book in case player needed more rules clarified.
Mentioned it had been quite sometime now.
Chatted with another player.
Went to use the bathroom.
Waited.
Told the player to just do something.
Took out my PSP and started playing Disgaea 2.
Checked watch.
Mentioned we'd been waiting over thirty minutes.
Waited.
Closed eyes and pretended to sleep.
Opened a book for a different game and began working on my campain notes for it.
Reminded the slow player that this was a game and that her actions would not result in any actual, real world anything.
Waited.
Observed that my character would likely prefer a swift and merciful in game death to his current status of stasis outside time and space.
Player decided what to do.
Helped informed my former friend how she could accomplish this goal.
Waited.
Spent another ten minutes waiting while the soon-to-be-victim debated the follow up to her inital action.
Went to use bathroom again as an excuse to leave the table to avoid inflicting physical injury on anyone.
Returned to find player now had dice in her hand.
Waited.
Player eventually rolled and thirty second later myself and the other PC where able to regain control of our characters.

I'm actually having trouble controlling my breathing right now, just from typing this up and remembering everything.

Where the fuck do you keep finding these things? Do you search Flicker for "narrowed eyes"? Do you simply collect images of people narrowing their eyes and looking annoyed?

It's the Memetrix, Tad. Ross is the chosen one to save us all.
