General Chaos / Re: What Vidja games are you playing?

Not sure what's "small" about it, it's got over 12 different maps, 12 different playable characters 5 different monsters and a single player mode that has yet to be detailed.

Seems about the right size to me. But hey if I could contain my excitement I'd wait too.

Not meant to diss on the game, it looks like a lot of fun. What I meant to say was that, for a game that has no singleplayer campaign and is centered entirely on the multiplayer, $60 seems to be too steep for me. Now, when it is on sale for $20-$30 bucks I will most likely pounce on it because that would be a great value IMO.

No big I probably sounded more intense than intended.

According to 2k there is a single player campaign in the final game but we have no real details so far.

Anyone else chomping at the bit to play some Evolve?

That game looks AWESOME.

60 bucks for such a (relatively) small multiplayer game seems like too much. I wil probably get it a year after it's released when it's $20 at a Steam sale. :)

Totally hyped for Evolve. I have myself and four buddies who would love to go after each other in that game.

I've got at least 2 friends who are looking to get on it. I'm thinking this could be a fan game for RPPR if they do a Mac version.

Either way though it's just a damn fine looking game. Mechanically seems a ton of fun as well.

That and Shadows of Mordor are looking to be must play games for this year.

Coolio, I have learned quite a lot.

Clearly I cannot just read books to learn rules.

I've known this about myself and yet I can't help but try.

So here's something I can't find a 100% straight explanation of.

Stress and Consequences.

I've learned that default stress boxes have a value of 1 and 2. But I can't find anywhere how much the additional boxes are worth based on your stats.

On top of that, I can I can't find the full explanation of Consequences value. I know Major can absorb a 6 shit hit but thats all I found.

EDIT:
HAHAHAHA
I found it.

More Physique/Will = more and bigger stress boxes

Consequences 2-4-6 and the dreaded 8 shift protection.

I'm not helpless after all.

I hate combat and overly reward creative solutions to conflicts.

I never prepare more than 3-4 sentences for any one game session.

75% of the time I base the outcomes of die rolls on how high the die itself came up.

Monster Hp to hit and damage are all made up in their first turn.

I once ran a Call of Cthulhu scenario without reading it first just so I could also be surprised by the outcome. I then skipped a vital scene. Ended in a TPK.

I can't help but power game incessantly. However I also have to have a certain amount of verisimilitude therefore I tend to make my characters background then establish what they would be good at and MAX THE SHIT out of it.
Oh and a more serious one. I lack the authority to reign in the more easily distracted players.

I ran a Fate Core Game (with some Extras) for a Black Ops Mech Team and have some of the character sheets. If you're interested, I can throw one of those up and maybe give you a little write up to an Actual Play situation where a PC was invoked/compelled

This would be lovely.

I feel like I've kind of hit my limit on what I can get out of the book so real life examples are much appreciated.

Also I will definitely check out those links. Thanks a ton.

This is a Base Raiders character yes?

I've been listening to Base Raiders to get an idea of how Fate is played and it seems like the system holds up.

Do you find it difficult naming your aspects descriptive enough to be able to invoke them often?

Or vice versa with compels?

Would anyone be opposed to posting a character or two?

Just so I can see how a fully fleshed character looks by the end.

We've started the process of creating characters, and the setting.

Everyones got general ideas but it was hard for us to stay on topic so we made a group on facebook so we can discuss things as we go throughout the week.

We used the character creation rules for Dresden Files to make characters and backstory for an Iron Heroes game and it worked great just to make our characters nice and fleshed out.

I'm probably being blinded by having at least a small amount of MOBA snobbery due to being a prolific league of legends player.

Prolific? Yes

Good at it? No

I got in the closed Beta for Dawngate and I tried to jungle and I felt like the jungle camps took hours to respawn... Not really sure how I felt about the characters.

I did just install smite though i'm giving that a shot.

So yeah I just finished The Stick of Truth.

I liked it. I definitely didn't feel like it was too short. Sure I would have liked more but I think it played out fine.

It has a decent amount of replay ability due to the different classes so we'll see how that works out.

Other than that I've got Evolve and Shadows of Mordor in my game pipeline.

I want them bad.

I found the thing I was thinking of in terms of equipment aspects.

http://fate-srd.com/fate-system-toolkit/gear-aspects

I've been looking at the fate core book and so far I'm not sure how different it is, they seem to be nearly identical.

I haven't gotten super far yet though.

So from what I'm reading Compelling an Aspect is usually GM facing but PC's can compel other PC's Aspects.

Maybe I just imagined the part about PC's compelling enemy Aspects.
