News:Our newest Kickstarter is up. Boiling Point is an adventure for Base Raiders. It mixes investigation with dungeon crawling for a perfect blend of excitement and fun. If it does well, we’ll have Caleb write about death traps. Check it out!

Synopsis: Planning is a part of playing RPGs, not just for the GM, but for the players too. But the players usually must plan during the game and sometimes planning becomes dithering. Dithering leads to wasted time, which leads to the game falling apart. Tom and I discuss how to move players along when they plan, how much help GMs should offer, and our experiences as players. Plus, Tom has a letter, not to mention shout outs and anecdotes.

Shout Outs

Song: Best Laid Plans by Swampland.

rppr-meetupNews: The No Soul Left Behind and Horrors of War Kickstarters are both successful! Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Synopsis: Gen Con 2014 has come and gone and we had a blast. More of the RPPR crew made it up there than previous years, and our meetup was a resounding success. We even had a war banner! So this episode is a full breakdown of what we did, what games we tried out, and what loot we secured. Thanks to everyone we met up there and we look forward to next year.

News:Gencon approaches! Check the RPPR thread for more info. Also, support Caleb with the No Soul Left Behind Kickstarter! It has what gamers crave! And speaking of Kickstarters, The Horrors of War Kickstarter is pretty awesome too!

Synopsis: Training, learning, and education are important topics in games but we seldom examine the assumptions made in games. The gaming trope of leveling up (I learned a new language after I killed enough orcs!) is a poor model to represent learning but what should good experience/leveling up rules look like? Aside from educational rules in games, we also discuss academic themes for adventure ideas and using a game to teach it to other people. No letter from Tom, but we do have shout outs and an anecdote.

Shout Outs:

Music: Selected pieces from Computer Death by Infinite Frequencies. Check out more Vaporwave if you want to hear elevator music from Carcosa.
