News: Be sure to check out the RPPR Patreon for our latest After Hours episode! Pre-order Red Markets today if you haven’t already. The deadline is September 2!
Synopsis: Gen Con is nearly here! It is the 50th year of the con and RPPR’s 10th year of existence! A lot of the RPPR cast will be at Gen Con this year to celebrate. Here are the official RPPR events:
- Delta Green: Observer Effect – I am running this for Arc Dream. It is full, but someone may not show up on time, so swing by to see if there is an opening.
- RPPR Live! Our big event for the year. Meet the cast, ask questions about the podcast, and a lot more!
- Game Designer Panel: I will talk about my progress on Ruin and several other game designers will be there to answer questions.
Plus we will be attending the Delta Green panel run by Arc Dream. Many of us will be running unofficial games for RPPR fans as well.
If you want to coordinate and meet up with other RPPR fans at Gen Con, read this thread on the RPPR forums to find out what social media to check.
Shout out to Pathfinder Adventurer’s Guide, which I recently received as a review copy. It looks cool from an initial glance and I will have a full review in a future episode.

GenCon! GenCon!!
I am excited for RPPR Live! – I’ve attended two of the meet ups so far and both were great.
I am sure there will be some unofficial Red Markets games cropping up, but there’s also a (sold-out) one through GenCon with a fun concept: https://www.gencon.com/events/124444 (With a 9 AM Saturday start time, I think it’s possible that someone might not show..)
I’ll be running Observer Effect as well and am excited for my first con game as GM.
Also, I assumed that the They Might Be Giants concert would be sold out, but there are still cheap ($10) tickets available for it, if anyone was on the fence about it.
I wonder what AudioBooks involving orc real estate Ross will play for the van this time.
So sad I can’t make GenCon this year 🙁
See you nerds next time.
Hope that the trip to/at/from this GenCon this year is great for everyone. Still think with the crowd there & all I’ve heard on Origins, it might be more my style. Curious if any of the RPPR crew is up to trying out that one if they’ve not yet been to it.
Think that after reading Call of Cthulhu 7th ed rules & the fun new scenarios, plus Pulp Cthulhu plus the mini campaign of A Time to Harvest that the RPPR crew will really enjoy it & not need much time to learn the changes to have a damn fun time. So hopefully soon some of the crew can give it a try.
Two things.
1. Yeah, I learned pretty quickly my first GenCon to use the bathrooms on the second floors away from the foot traffic. Also the Westin has nice utilities.
2. Aaron how dare you besmirch warhammer 40k. If I were at GenCon right now I would sass you sooo harrddd.
Ross’ description of the “ancient AI gods” in Mutant Crawl Classics reminded me of one of the bits of DGP’s ill-fated _A.I. Technofantasy roleplaying_ project. I looked up the MegaTraveller Journal article about _A.I._ and yeah, the PC’s had* godlike AI patrons, but I had forgotten that DPG’s “technofantasy” concept also had* a ton of “transhumanist” elements as well: nano-fabrication; nano-disassemblers; genetically engineered humans; uplifted animals; AGI’s; backups; and resleeving (complete with XP loss!).
I just had to share this, so I’ve uploaded scans of the MegaTraveller Journal article here: http://bryanharryrombough.tumblr.com/post/164414912473/birth-of-a-new-game-from-the-megatraveller-journal
*or maybe I should say “would have had”, since the game was lost to a hard drive crash
